Pour le sketchcrawl d'octobre nous allons dessiner dans le cloître Lucien Wercollier et son joli jardin intérieur, qui se trouvent dans l'Abbaye de Neumunster. Là nous pourrons également trouver de l'inspiration pour nos futures sorties dans la belle exposition Murmures sur le patrimoine architectural de Luxembourg à travers les yeux des photographes Miikka Heinonen et Jeanine Unsen.

 Rendez-vous: dimanche 7 octobre 2018 à 14h à l'entrée du cloître dans l'abbaye Neumunster dans le Grund.

For the October sketchcrawl we will sketch in the Lucien Wercollier cloister and its pretty interior garden, which are located in Neumunster Abbey. There we can also find inspiration for our future outings in the beautiful exhibition Murmures on the architectural heritage of Luxembourg through the eyes of photographers Miikka Heinonen and Jeanine Unsen.

Rendez-vous: Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2 pm at the entry of the Cloister in the Neumunster Abbey (Grund).

La ville d’Echternach organise une convention steampunk le week-end des 4 et 5 août. Il y aura costumes, marché et musique qui nous transporteront dans un monde inspiré de Jules Verne.

Rendez-vous le dimanche 5 août devant le bâtiment de l’administration communale d’Echternach à 14 heures.

En cas de besoin, on peut organiser un covoiturage. Il suffit de nous contacter avec quelques jours d’avance.

Les cimetières militaires à Sandweiler sont des lieux extraordinaires et impressionnants, invitant à la réflexion sur le passé, le présent et l'avenir.

Il y a un grand cimetière américain et, à deux pas de là, un cimetière allemand.

 

A notre sketchcrawl de juin vous aurez l’occasion de capter en dessins ces lieux exceptionnels, avec les belles floraisons de juin.

There is a large American cemetery and, a stone's throw away, a German cemetery.

 

At our June sketchcrawl you will have the opportunity to capture in drawings these exceptional places, with the beautiful blooms of June.

The cemeteries close their doors at 4:45pm. Afterwards we can go for a drink&draw in one of the cafes in Sandweiler.

USK Luxembourg are invited for the Open Doors Day at the Ministry of Culture

Saturday 21st of April 2018:

The luxembourgish Ministry of Culture invites the USK Luxembourg to sketch in the Hôtel des Terres Rouges building, 4 boulevard F-D Roosevelt in Luxembourg City, from 10am until 5pm, on the occasion of Open doors day of the Institutions. 

We will have guided tour by Pr Robert Philippart and access to all the building parts, including the Minister office, the great meeting room with view on the Petrusse Park and Valley, including the casemates basement.

The Festival des migrations, des cultures et de la Citoyenneté takes place this weekend, a great occasion to discover the different cultures in Luxembourg while sketching the colourful stands, the animations and the general atmosphere.

January Sketchcrawl

Hello dear sketchers,

To all of you a happy new Year 2018 with good health, creativity and many many sketches!

For our first sketchcrawl of the year we will discover the new mobility of our capital.

We meet on Sunday 7 January 2018 at 2 pm in the hall of the Luxembourg central train station, from where we will take the train to the new Kirchberg-Pfaffenthal (Pont Rouge) railway station. The funicular will bring us to the tram. Tickets are free untill the end of January so we can make some round trips. We can get off and on where it pleases us to sketch the new station buildings and infrastructure or draw the train/funicular/tram passengers and interiors. Our tour will end with a drink & draw at one of the Utopolis bars.

Dress warmly, the tram is heated but a bit chilly...

For our December sketchcrawl, let's go sketch at the Christmas market in Luxembourg city, by the Gëlle Fra.

If the weather is too bad, we will find refuge in one of the cafés in the centre.

November Sketchcrawl and 24hr USk Sketchwalk

Hello dear sketchers,

We are looking at a busy month of November!

For our usual sketchcrawl, we will explore part of the Limpertsberg, starting with its cemetery and ending at Hall Victor Hugo where those who are interested will be able to admire art works exhibited in the framework Luxembourg Art Week.

Let's meet at the entrance of cinema Utopia on avenue de la Faïencerie at 14.00 on Sunday 5 November 2017.

Don't forget to wear warm clothes! :)

We have a special event this month!

On Saturday 11th November 2017, USk chapters from around the globe will hold sketchwalks in their cities to celebrate 10 years of Urban Sketchers. For 24 hours, we will be able to follow all these sketchcrawls on Instagram using the hashtag #USkGlobal24hrSketchwalk​, starting with Auckland, New Zealand and ending with O’ahu, USA.

Photos and videos from each chapter will be shared on the official USk Instagram account during these 24 hours, and published on Facebook during the following days.

For our contribution, we decided to meet at 11:00 on Place Guillaume. Depending on the weather, we will be able to sketch the market or visit a few cafes or pubs around.

Mark your calendars! This months we'll have not one, but two outings: Sunday 5 November and Saturday 11!

This month we cross the Moselle to return to the shore opposite to Remich, from where we will have a beautiful vue on the Luxembourg shore.

USK international sketchcrawl in Luxembourg

The young USK Chapter of Luxembourg is happy to welcome fellow sketchers from the neighbouring countries to their first international USK meeting in Luxembourg City.

The weekend-long sketchcrawl will take place on 29-30th April 2017 and will be the occasion for all sketching aficionados to discover how "sketchable" the city is.

In collaboration with LUCA, we will make the city as welcoming and interesting as possible, with a map of some of the most interesting sketching points, a common dinner on Saturday evening and even one or more guided tours by an expert on all things Luxembourg.

Registration is free and can be made on Eventbrite. Those who wish to participate to the dinner, which will take place at the Big Beer Company in Rives de Clausen, can register there (registration for the dinner is compulsory).

Don't miss out on this opportunity to experience the city in a different way!

April Sketchcrawls

Hello dear sketchers,

For our monthly sketchcrawl we will go to Grevenmacher. Weather permitting, we will explore the town. Those who prefer can also discover the Kulturhuef (museum of printing and museum of card games).

Let's meet at the entrance of the Kulturhuef in Grevenmacher at 14:00 this Sunday 2 April 2017.

This weekend there will also be the sketchcrawl organised with LUCA for the occasion of the reopening of the Adolphe bridge. M. Robert Philippart will share his vast knowledge of the briges history while we sketch.

Don't forget the Urban Sketching meeting taking place on 29-30 April!! There is still time to sign up for the sketchcrawls and for the dinner on Saturday. Sketchers from the neighbouring countries have already promised to be there.
