Pour commencer cette nouvelle année en toute beauté nous allons dessiner la belle collection de Arts décoratifs et populaires du Musée national d’histoire et d’arts à Luxembourg (MNHA).

First of all we wish you all a healthy, happy and creative new year 2022!

To start off this new year in style we are going to draw the beautiful Arts and Crafts collection of the National Museum of History and Art in Luxembourg (MNHA).

WINTERLIGHTSSPEEDSKETCHING

 It was raining cats and dogs, the temperatures were around zero and there were reported spikes in Covid19-infections…

So all odds were against us to sketch on our December meeting at the Winterlights Festival!

Announcement: December sketchcrawl of Urban Sketchers Luxembourg: Speedsketching at the Winterlights Festival

 

This time we are going to SPEEDSKETCH  in the fairy world of the Luxembourg Winterlights Festival. Thus we will keep moving and not get too cold and, more importantly, we will loosen up our sketching skills and sketch with more freedom, spontaneity and freshness. The Casino Luxembourg will serve as our meeting point and refuge to warm up in between. 

Let’s meet on Sunday 5 December 2021 at 2 pm in the entrance hall of the Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'Art Contemporain, 41 Rue Notre Dame, 2240 Luxembourg (CovidCheck)

Some tips for speedsketching:

1. Make sure you have a generous stack of not-too-expensive sketching paper (minimum 10-20 sheets)

2. Limit yourself to two (2) sketching tools, for instance :

- a 2 HB and a 4B pencil

- 2 waterbrushes filled with ecoline or two markers, one warm color and one cool color

- 2 coloring pencils or oil pastels,  ochre and blue

- 2 black ink pens of different thickness 

…(etc, etc.)

3. Don’t take your sketching stool: it will slow you down

4. Dress warmly, wear good shoes and don’t forget your mittens!

Bears & More at the museum “A Possen” - november 2021 sketchcrawl of Urban Sketchers Luxembourg

The november sketchcrawl of our Urban Sketchers Luxembourg group gave us another chance to discover something new: the museum “A Possen” in Bech-Kleinmacher. 

The museum is hosted in a restored 17th century house in a small Moselle village - it shows us what family and everyday life was like in rural Luxembourg. 

The museum has a wonderful collection of old toys, teddybears and puppets, old cameras and visual equipment, and clothes and textiles from the past.

 Isabelle wrote : “  Le musée viticiole et folklorique A Possen à Bech-Kleinmacher est installé dans une ancienne maison accueillante et très riche de ses collections diverses. Nous avions l’embarras du choix.

Tâcher d’esquisser la finesse et la légèreté des ancêtres du verre du vin, de récipients de verre comme des fioles fragiles bleutées et translucides. Un design presque contemporain, qui fait apparaître l’antiquité de l’art du vin comme le travail d’un savant fou qui se serait trompé de siècle.

Puis boire un verre de Riesling avec les amis sketchers bien installés dans la Wäistuff attenante “

 

 

Announcement: November 2021 Sketchcrawl of Urban Sketchers Luxembourg

Pour notre sketchcrawl de novembre 2021 nous allons à la découverte de la vie familiale et quotidienne en milieu rural dans une vieille demeure restaurée du XVIIème siècle, le musée “A Possen” à Bech-Kleinmacher à la Moselle. 

Rendez-vous le dimanche 7 novembre 2021 à 14h devant l’entrée du musée “A Possen”

Souvenirs des jours de vacances / Memories of the holidays - Isabelle Van Driessche

As winter approaches and the days grow shorter, it is nice to think back to the light, sunshine and distant skies of the holidays. Our loyal member, Isabelle Van Driessche,, has shared this lovely holiday impression with us.

Alors que l'hiver approche et que les jours raccourcissent, nous nous souvenons avec plaisir et bonheur la lumière, le soleil et les cieux lointains des jours de vacances. Notre membre fidèle, Isabelle Van Driessche, a partagé avec nous cette belle impression de vacances.

A rainy October Sunday at the Fligermusee and the Parc Thermal at Mondorf-les-bains

 After the summer break - and the weather gods took this very literally, with rain showers and gusty winds - Urban Sketchers Luxembourg met again at Mondorf-les-bains, to sketch together in the Parc Thermal and the tiny Fligermusee.

Most of us stayed inside the little glass pavillion and sketched the bold colors and diagonal lines of the old planes crisscrossing the upper hall like giant insects.

I was the only fool to venture in the Parc and sketch between the raindrops and the gusts of wind. I tried to capture the old fountain at the French side of the Parc.

But after an hour and a half, with cold feet and cold hands, I joined the others in the Fligermusee…
