For our December meeting we will go and sketch at the Cloche d'Or Shopping Centre with its fairytale Christmas decorations. 

Allergic to shopping or Christmas madness? Don’t worry - there are also some interesting perpectives to sketch!

Sketch at the Cathedral Notre-Dame in Luxembourg, 5 November 2023

Sketchers of all levels are welcome to our next meeting! It will take place as follows:

Time: 5 November at 2 pm 

Place: Cathedral Notre-Dame, in Luxembourg city. 

It is a remarkable instance of late Gothic style, revealing various components and ornaments inspired by Renaissance style.

Let’s meet at the entrance to the Cathedral in rue Notre-Dame. There are several entrances, this is the main one. 

We are allowed to sketch inside but please remember it is a place of worship, so remain respectful of that. 

At 4:30 pm we gather again at the entrance, to put stamps on our sketches, and take the photos, before going to the Drink&Draw!

This museum is 200 m from the Musée Rural et Artisanal and contains 20 old carriages. Six of them come from the Grand-Ducal Court.
The museum proposes to exhibit our sketches during the 2024 season, planning still to be fixed.

The entrance fee is 5 Euro in cash! Please don’t forget.

The museum is open from 14-17, and there is a café/brasserie in the Musée Rural where we can have a coffee after (Brasserie am Musée).

With public transport, it is bus 511 from Luxembourg city.

Next sketchcrawl is 5 March @14 at the Dräi Eechelen museum

For our March sketchcrawl, we will meet at the Drëi Eechelen museum inside the Fort Thüngen, behind Mudam.

When: Sunday March 5 at 14-17H.

The museum is impressively big with a permanent exhibition and a temporary one, celebrating the first 10 years of the museum. You can go up in the tower and out on the terrace on the roof of the building, or down in the basement to walk in the old tunnels under the fort. The building from outside is also beautiful to sketch, have a look at Pedro's sketch below.

Inside the museum, only dry methods for drawing and sketching are allowed, no watercolors inside this time. Benches and foldable chairs are available. Lockers are downstairs (you need a 1 euro coin) and there is a coffee machine in the little cafeteria at the entrance floor.

When you are done sketching, let’s meet in the Mudam cafeteria at 16:45 to take photos of our work. The light is great there and those who want can have a drink. The cafeteria is accessible without paying the entrance fee of Mudam.

Public Transport : tram stop Philharmonie, train Kirchberg-Pfaffenthal, bus Route-Bréck – Pfaffendall.

Pour le sketchcrawl du samedi 7 janvier 2023, nous allons au Muerbelsmillen Museum, ancienne fabrique de moutarde, devenue Musée de la moutarde.

December 2022 sketchcrawl of Urban Sketchers Luxembourg at the Valentiny Foundation in Remerschen

Pour le sketchcrawl du dimanche 11 décembre, nous allons à Valentiny Foundation, https://www.valentiny-foundation.com/ . 

Nous nous retrouvons à l’entrée à 14 heures. 

L’adresse est 34, Wäistross, 5440 Remerschen. Pour ceux qui prennent les transports publics, l’arrête de bus est : Remerschen, Al Schoul. 

Quand la météo le permet nous pouvons croquer l’extérieur du bâtiment et les alentours (Caves du Sud, Auberge de jeunesse à Remerschen), très intéressant à dessiner;  sinon nous travaillerons à l’ intérieur. Il y aura des expositions permanentes et temporaires. On peut utiliser les techniques sèches et l’aquarelle (en faisant attention, bien sur !).

Let’s meet at the entrance at 2 pm. 

The address is 34, Wäistross, 5440 Remerschen. For those who use public transport, there is a bus stop in front of the building ; Remerschen, Al Schoul. 

If the weather permits, it’s nice to sketch the outside of the building or those next to it ; Cave du Sud or the Remerschen youth hostel. But otherwise we can work indoors using both dry media and watercolor (but please take care, as usual !). There are both permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Cela fait un moment que nous n'avons pas dessiné notre bibliothèque nationale. Si je ne me trompe pas, cela fait même depuis les journées portes ouvertes de l'ouverture officielle de la bibliothèque en 2019!

En fonction de la météo nous pouvons d’abord dessiner l’exterieur et les alentours de la Bibliothèque. Après - ou tout de suite dès le début - nous pouvons nous plonger dans l’ambiance de lecture, de la bibliophilie et les portraits des lecteurs concentrés.

Ce petit film vous donne une idée de ce à quoi vous attendre.

Attention!
Nous pouvons apporter nos outils de dessin (PAS d’eau, techniques sèches ou aquabrush) dans la salle de lecture mais, pour des raisons de sécurité, nous devrons utiliser les casiers pour nos vestes et sacs.

Dear Sketchers,

It's been quite a while since we sketched at our National Library. If I am not mistaken, it has even been since the open days at the official opening of the Library in 2019!

Depending on the weather, we may first draw the exterior and surroundings of the library. Afterwards - or immediately from the start - we can immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of reading, bibliophilia and portraits of concentrated readers.

This little film gives you an idea of what to expect.

Note!
We can bring our sketching tools (NO water, only dry techniques or aquabrush) into the reading room but, for safety reasons, we will have to use the lockers for our jackets and bags.

Avec cette source d'inspiration fantastique, nous croquerons nos propres chefs-d'œuvre dans le parc autour de la Villa.

Ensuite, nous pourrons prendre un thé au John's Cottage!
