Cuba, A Painter's Paradise

I recently visited Cuba with Catherine, a painter friend.

What a country of dazzling beauty, full of colour, dance and music, but also poignant contradictions, tragedy and a two-speed society.

The Cubans are very open and friendly people and are extremely proud of their country but they prefer to keep quiet about politics.
With the help of our very smart and passionate Ecotur-guide, Julio, we explored the Cuban countryside and Cuban cities with names that make you dream: La Havana, Vinales, Cienfuegos, Trinidad...

Cuba is a paradise of colours and shapes, not only above but also under water! I was so sorry I could not sketch under water while snorkeling.

That being said, the Cuban air is very humid and the paint doesn't dry quickly. So make sure to take two sketchbooks with you, to let one water colour dry while you start another!

Here you can find all the results of my Cuban painting trip.
