March 2021 sketchcrawl at the cathedral

It was very nice to see you all again, "alive and kicking - euh - sketching"!

Let's start with our youngest 5-year-old enthusiastic participant:

« Ce dimanche ensoleillé, la joie de retrouver les sketchers sur le parvis de la cathédrale. Dessiner d’abord les surprenants bas-reliefs autour de l’entrée de la cathédrale côté rue Notre-Dame…entièrement à l’ombre. Rendre la tristesse des lions comme écrasés par la peine au pied des colonnes. Puis vers le haut entre deux piliers saisir un diable sortant du mur par un occulus. Est-ce bien un être diabolique ou seulement sa coiffure qui évoque des cornes ?

J’aurais encore volontiers dessiné plus longtemps l’une ou l’autre figure de ce portail fascinant, mais le froid et l’envie de retrouver les autres sketchers m’a ramenée sur le parvis où nous avons goutés aussi longtemps que possible aux derniers rayons de soleil en partageant le parvis avec les skaters. »

Roger Jenkins: "Not being able to join you today, I did a sketch of a church near me; then I remembered a sketch I made of the Cathedral over a year ago - sitting under the Christmas tree like a pixie.! So I hope you enjoy both of them."

Announcement: March 2021 sketchcrawl

Pour notre sketchcrawl de mars, nous vous proposons de venir dessiner autour et dans la Cathédrale Notre Dame de Luxembourg. Nous pouvons d'abord dessiner le bâtiment et ses alentours, puis continuer dans la chaleur et l'abri à l'intérieur - ou inversement.

Nous ne pouvons pas vraiment nous réunir en groupe, mais nous vous suggérons de trouver un joli endroit pour faire vos croquis de la cathédrale entre 14 et 17 heures le dimanche 7 mars 2021. En raison du COVID, il n'y aura pas de drink&draw après, mais n'oubliez pas votre vin de messe ;-)

Pour ceux qui préfèrent (ou sont obligés de) s'isoler, nous vous suggérons de faire des croquis de l'église la plus proche de votre domicile, l’extérieur et si possible aussi l’intérieur. 

N'oubliez pas de poster ou d'envoyer vos croquis après, afin que nous puissions au moins partager cela en ces temps difficiles!

For our March sketchcrawl we propose to sketch around and in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg city. We can first sketch the building and its surroundings and then continue in the warmth and shelter inside - or the other way round.

We can not really gather as a group but we suggest you find a nice cathedral sketching spot somewhere between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday 7 March 2021. Due to COVID there will be no drink&draw afterwards, but don’t forget your mass wine ;-)

For those who prefer (or are obliged) to self-isolate we suggest you sketch the church nearest to your home, from the outside and the inside if possible.

Please do not forget to post or send your sketches afterwards - so we can at least share that in these difficult times!
